Kristy Logan has taught yoga for more then 10 years and dance for more than 30. Her advanced yoga teacher training was done with Mark Horner and included ashtanga, Iyengar and shadow yoga styles; anatomy and kinesiology; study of energetic systems (such as chakras and nadis); ayurveda; meditation and the study of yoga philosophy, terms and texts. She has taught all levels of yoga in many different venues (Diablo Valley Community College, World Yoga, Yoga Sol, Danville Yoga, private homes, D'Ann's Academy of Dance, Alhambra Ballet School). She continues to take classes and workshops to deepen her own practice and enrich her teaching. She meditates daily as well.
In the field of dance, Ms. Logan was a professional dancer with Cliff Keuter's Modern Dance Company in California after she received her M.A. degree from Stanford University and her B.A. degree from Santa Clara University (she is a suma cum laude and magna cum laude graduate, respectively). While dancing professionally, she also taught ballet, modern dance, dance history, choreography and dance production and "Dance Is Therapy" at Santa Clara University (14 years). She is a grant-funded artist for her original choreography and has produced work in San Francisco, San Jose, Los Gatos, Portola Valley, and Purdue, Indiana. In both the South Bay and East Bay, she has been a dance education specialist, integrating curriculum and dance in elementary, middle and high schools. She has trained teachers in this technique through workshops at conferences and in their classrooms. Additionally, she has choreographed over 30 musical productions for college and semi-professional groups, to include Shakespearean productions as well as popular musicals such as "1940's Radio Hour", "A Chorus Line.", and "Fiddler on the Roof"
Pilates training and practice are the newest additions to her repertoire of teaching skills. Her Pilates Mat training was completed through Balanced Body University and was taken at Absolute Center in Lafayette.
Yoga-dance is Ms. Logan's unique creation, bringing together her years of experience in dance and yoga and her passion for both. She will continue to develop and enhance this harmonious blending of arts.
